Vincent Finch

Brother Vincent B. Finch is a retired high school educator, administrator, and head football and track coach.  He also served as a NJSIAA (N.J. Interscholastic Athletic Assn.) and PIAA (PA Interscholastic Athletic Assn.) track and volleyball official for twenty five years.  He taught in the Newark Public Schools for thirty years before retiring and moving to the Pocono area of Pennsylvania.

Vincent was voted president of his high school Senior Class. In that year he was also honored to gain the positions of captain of the football and track teams, as well. These major responsibilities were added to his membership in the high school's Boys Glee Club,  Mixed Chorus and the Madrigal singing group, on all of which he'd served four years.

After high school Vincent attended Virginia State University, formerly Virginia State College, in Petersburg, Virginia. While there, he played football and was a member of the wrestling team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. After College he worked for the Job Corps for two years before moving into education in the Newark Public Schools.  He also obtained a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Kean State University of New Jersey.

Brother Finch was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Nu Psi Chapter at Virginia State University in the Fall of 1963.  He has been a member of the fraternity for fifty-three years.  Most recently he served as Keeper of Finance (Treasurer) of the Alpha Mu Nu Chapter here in the Poconos.  Currently Brother Finch is active in Fraternity and Community activities, and enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Gloria and their grandchildren. A major event the couple enjoys is their regular attendance at the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame Awards Dinner, where in 2008, Brother Finch was enshrined in the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame.
